Dartmoor's Wild Victory: The Right to Roam Reigns Supreme!

Fantastic news for all you lovers of the great outdoors and the freedom of the fells!

The Supreme Court has delivered a decision that has my heart soaring – the right to wild camp on Dartmoor has been upheld!

A Roaming Victory: Dartmoor's Wild Heart Beats On!

This significant case revolved around a challenge by landowners against the established public right to wild camp on Dartmoor's commons. For those of us who cherish the tranquility of nature, this was a crucial battle, and I'm incredibly happy with the outcome.

Wild camping on Dartmoor has always been a magical part of my cycling adventures. For me, that means bikepacking – my bike loaded with bags, sleeping kit, food and water for self-sufficient camping. There's something truly special about pedaling through breathtaking landscapes and then settling down for the night under the vast Dartmoor sky. It's an experience that connects you deeply with the land, and it's something I wouldn't trade for anything.

This victory on Dartmoor is a huge step, but it also sparks a greater hope: the idea of extending the "right to roam" across the entirety of England. Imagine the possibilities! I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed that we'll see this freedom spread, allowing everyone to responsibly enjoy our incredible natural spaces. Here's to more nights under the stars, more open trails, and a wilder, more accessible England!
